I question everything including life. While studying upon the Catholic Church for more information so I may post upon the group of women who want to be ordained priests, I found a mystery. Perhaps its not meant to be solved, but in any case, it is a fascinating mystery. I will probably continue studying about it on my free time. What is it? The Incorruptibles. Haven't heard of it before now? Well, I had not heard about it until I began searching for certain truths.
The Incorruptibles are Catholic Saints whose bodies do not deteriorate without any evidence of mummification. To not repeat everything that is posted on the other web pages I give it to you here. If you want to read a book about it you can order it through the Catholic Company. Now my next question, is there any other religion that has an Incorruptible? Would like to know, but have not found any as of yet.

I have heard of this, and I went to the Franciscan monastary where they have an Incorruptible saint that you can look at. However, there were a lot of people there (it was when I was teaching religious ed and we took the 8th grade Sunday School class), so the monks hurried people past the body. Also, the body was wearing a mask and heavy draperies, so you could not really see how incorrupted it was.
I'll have to find and read that book, as I am still skeptical. Perhaps if I had not been rushed past my opportunity to examine one through a glass case...

Incorruptibles? Pretty unbelievable. Yet it is fasinating! I heard that St. Bernadette (a little french girl) is one as well. I'd love to learn more, and thanks for the links! It will surly help me. Keep up the good work!
I've never been one to be quite religious, but just the thought that Catholic saints would be forever preserved and not show the natural rotting that every human is doomed to suffer is amazing. It makes me really have more faith in my religion.
Wow, incorruptibles are popular...
The Incorruptibles are signs in the Catholic church as to being miracles. Infact, it is one way into moving closer to sainthood. If you go to a Catholic Church, each one has a small piece of a saint in the alter. That is the spot the priest will kiss at the beginning and end of the Mass.
As for the reate of decompostition, it does occur on the saint bodies, but at a very slow rate. with the new technology available, more efforts have been made to make sur ethe bodies are preserved. What made it truly a miracle when the bodies were fist exumed was that they didn't decompase. St. Bernadette was exumed fifty years after her death and looked as if she was just placed into the ground. Thus, the Church declared it a miracle. *Keep in mind, Catholic education plus trying to remember much of this off the top of my head. There could be a few errors, but the majority of information gives you the absic gist of things.*
Thanks to all who found interest in the Incorruptibles and for any information you included. Hopefully, I can find something just as fascinating in the Catholic faith or another religion. Heck just something just as fascinating
